5G Technology is coming this year, and it's faster than you'd ever imagine;

The New era of mobile technology is about to catapult the globe into a network of high speed communication, with download speeds set to increase 100 times over.
In the wake of the global social media and streaming services boom, mobile users can look forward to downloading a HD movie within 7 seconds. It’s also no surprise that it will cost users a hefty amount. A recent Ericsson Mobility Report projects that the average smartphone user is expected to burn through 8.9GB of data a month.
AT&T have announced they are to trial and release 5G services in 12 major cities by the end of the year, reported hotspots include New York, Boston and San Francisco, this faster connection will enable users to an enhanced experience of virtual reality, unlimited 4K video and much more.
The new technology will be able to train robots to carry out various activities through a phone. 5G is also expected to change the way we learn skills, with exoskeletons being heavily researched, and soon enough, the next aspiring musician can teach their muscles to learn how to play instruments like piano.
“5G will change the way we live, work and enjoy entertainment,”
So, what is 5G?
5G stands for 5th Generation, or the 5th instalment of mobile data technology. We’ve already had the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generations having started with analogue telecommunications in the early 1980s, 5G will be an upgraded field on the 4G we’ve used globally since 2008, features include;
• 1 G-bit/s to be offered, simultaneously to tens of workers on the same floor
• Several hundreds of thousands of simultaneous connections to be supported for massive sensor deployments
• Signalling efficiency enhanced
• Expected to fully roll out by 2020
When can the public use it?
Well there is no official dates yet however phone and data companies such as Verizon will be rolling out to most urban locations by 2020, we advise looking out for lots of new antennae being installed around your street, local towns as it’s a good sign your nearest telecoms companies are getting on-board, this will not mean you can access 5G technology, as you will need to buy a new phone which can support such a high-speed service.
All we know is that it’s coming soon, and it will undoubtedly spark one of the biggest technological movements of the modern world
