The 737 MAX - Boeing's Biggest Ever Failure?
In the past year, Boeing has faced major setbacks and scrutiny from the public over the two crashes that have occurred as a result of a possible poor design by manufacturers.
The first fatal crash happened just 13 minutes after takeoff, on-board a Lion-Air Aircraft, the plane had been delivered to the airline only two months prior to the accident taking place.
Just the day before, the same malfunction arised on the same flight - however an extra pilot was on-board, and the Crew managed to fix the problem in time to level out the aircraft.
The second crash was from an Ethiopian Airlines flight that was set to fly to Nairobi, Kenya. Again it took very little time - approximately 6 minutes after takeoff - what the pilots had to deal with is still not fully known, with reports in the last fortnight emerging that a bird-strike could have limited control of the aircraft when the crew were running through their procedures to correct the aircraft’s position.
The blame has floated around, with the aircraft’s CEO stating the aircraft were properly designed, and it is ultimately the flight crew at fault due to them not following all the procedures they were provided. Reports have also come through surrounding a possible bird strike, yet the truth is really still a mystery.
Boeing admitted this weekend that there were flaws in the simulator software and they were not able to efficiently train pilots for MCAS conditions to prevent these kinds of accidents from happening
