5G Data Allowance Already Being Capped
With 5G Basically here publicly, the highly anticipated brand new high speed data network can finally roll out to customers who wish to upgrade theri phone tariffs or purchase new phones.
There is already a slight catch however - EE’s price plan has a surprisingly low data cap of 10GB - now remember that 5G will almost certainly eat up data allowance faster than 4G.
The good news is however, that with the likes of Vodafone upgrading their services too, the data caps are likely to be cast aside, with customers being given generous limits at more competitive prices.
Currently the cheapest tariff in service (EE’s Data Bundle) costs £54 a month, but carries a hefty £170 fee for a compatible handset - data caps like this began when 3G was first introduced, as a method to combat the heavy demand for consumer usage.
10GB is being ruled as a “plentiful” amount of data per month, but with a single movie download using up over a tenth of that alone - it may be fair to argue that 5G is going to be nothing less than a pricey affair.
Data passes are also being introduced - which means video game downloads or video streaming may no longer count towards your data allowance
It may not be cheap - but 5G is sure about to bring a shock when the public realizes how fast this network is!
